Licensed in New York — with her own New York license
Telehealth across state lines requires the provider to hold a license in the state where the patient is located at visit time. There is no multistate compact license for advanced practice nurses — no shortcut, no shared license. Your provider must hold an individual New York license. Bertine does, and she provides telehealth care to patients located in New York under that license.
You must be in New York at the time of your visit
This is the rule every legitimate telehealth practice follows: your location during the visit decides which license applies. Live in New Jersey but work in Manhattan? A video visit from your Manhattan office is fine. The same visit from your New Jersey home is not, because Bertine is not licensed there. We confirm your location at each visit — it takes seconds and keeps your care fully compliant.
No referral needed
You can book directly through our secure booking portal. No referral from a primary care doctor or OB-GYN, no insurance authorization — we are cash-pay, so there is no insurer to ask for permission. Bring your history and any records you have.
Care built for busy New York schedules
Between work, the subway, and everything else, getting to a doctor's office in New York can eat half a day. Video visits remove the commute entirely — your appointment happens wherever you are in the state, and follow-ups are short check-ins, not another trek across town.
What New York patients should know
- First visits are unhurried: full history, careful symptom review, and a plan built around your goals.
- Labs are ordered electronically and drawn near you — Quest, Labcorp, and other labs have sites across the city and the state.
- Prescriptions, when appropriate, go electronically to the New York pharmacy you choose.
- A small number of medications have extra federal and state rules for telehealth prescribing. If one applies to your plan, we will explain your options plainly.
- Follow-ups are short video check-ins that fit around work, school, and family.
- Cash-pay: you pay at booking, we never bill insurance, and you get a receipt you may submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Frequently Asked Questions
I live in New Jersey but work in New York City. Can I be your patient?
You can do visits while you are physically in New York — for example, from your office in Manhattan. Visits from New Jersey are not possible, because Bertine's license covers patients located in New York at visit time.
Do I need a referral?
No. Book directly through our secure booking portal. As a cash-pay practice, there is no insurer requiring a referral or authorization.
Will my New York insurance cover these visits?
We do not bill insurance — we are cash-pay only, and you pay at the time of booking. You will receive a receipt you may submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
